The Objective
There is a showcase produced at the end of my program for graduating students. Each showcase, the instructors ask students of the graduating classes to submit posters designs. They review each design and select one to be used for the event. I produced a few designs for the contest, and I felt that it was a great opportunity for me to practice my graphic design skills and use my creativity.
The Process
Each design was created completely randomly. I did not produce any rough drafts or have any visualization of a concept in my mind before producing my designs. I wanted to really push my creativity by forcing myself to just create something from a blank canvas. I allowed myself to mindlessly pick a random drawing tool in Adobe Illustrator and create random shapes, lines, or figures. Whatever I created, I tried to add to it to see if I could give purpose to the object and develop it into something greater. I spontaneously developed concepts and ideas as I created each poster. It was freeing and interesting to use this method of creation. I loved how my designs turned out, and along the way I gained inspiration for new ideas.
